Arrival in Bonn
Well, I just got to Bonn and my first impression is that nobody looks like me. What was I thinking? I had visions of assembling armies of lookalikes. Right now I would feel be happy with just the one. Well, it will be interesting to see how things play out over the next week.
For those of you who might have happened accross the site (which is pretty unlikely) and have absolutely no idea what I am on about (more likely) I am looking for my doppelganger in Bonn. This week celebrates the sixtieth anniversary of the twinning of Oxford and Bonn. As part of the festivities a few artists from Oxford were invited to make work.
My proposal was that, if the cities are twins, then by a logical extension, I, being from Oxford (some of the time) should also have my personal twin in Bonn. At least one! So i have come to look for him, or them. I have just got off the train wandered about and found a hotel (nice owner but he shouts at his wife). If anyone knows a cheap place to stay in Bonn please let me know.
Ok, thats all for now. More to follow.

Hi Sam
just to let you know we as other artists from Oxford will be on our way to Bonn, this Tuesday arriving on the train (if we manage to get past the French railway strike).
We began the first part of our action today as Go-Betweens and collected water from the Thames, during a silent walk. We will travel with the water, by train to Bonn. As well as actions on the train we will be looking for anyone resembling you in some hope we might be able to support your search!!
Hope to see you on Wednesday

The Go-Betweens
so this is where you are (not in any deep sense, not sure I’m up to that just yet, just got up)…idea sounds interesting, has that whole ‘the double’ vibe about it. If you come accross someone called vickie van sambeck, she’s someone I stayed in Bonn with (while I was there the city was officialy declared no longer the capital, everyone was a bit glum) – I’m sure she’d put you up, though how you’d find her I dont know, probably married by now, and possibly moved on from bonn, but I do think her family if from there so you never know…. interesting to see the image of the Bonn left luggage – I left a snowboard there when I visited, had major hassle trying to get it sent to england later…
